Ingredients

Scale

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1 cup granulated sugar, divided

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Blend fresh strawberries with 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. Simmer the puree for 5 minutes, then cool.

2. Whisk heavy cream, whole milk, remaining sugar, and vanilla extract until sugar dissolves.

3. Combine the cooled strawberry puree with the cream mixture.

4. Chill the mixture for 1 hour before churning in an ice cream maker for 20-25 minutes.

5. Add reserved chopped strawberries during the last 2 minutes of churning.

6. Freeze the churned ice cream for 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Use frozen strawberries when fresh are unavailable.

Substitute sugar with honey or maple syrup for a healthier twist.

Try adding fresh mint or basil for a refreshing variation.
